Big Changes to Demo


Hello everyone!

It's been a long time since I've come to you with an update. The changes to the overall game as well as the Chapter 1 demo, are significant enough in my eyes to warrant a new demo release.  Some may have noticed the demo has changed a few times over the last 7 months since I last detailed it in a devlog, but they were mostly minor changes that I did not feel warranted an announcement.

This update is quite different.

While I want to get into what changes have been made to the demo, I also want to assure you a lot of content has been added to the full game this year.  Chapter 2 is complete and playable however it is missing the new addition which Chapter 1 now has.  This will be remedied in the coming weeks. I have been experimenting with more action like sequences as is seen in Chapter 1's Milk Hero game but to a much higher degree.


Chapter 3 is well underway as well. The games musical score is nearing completion.  Chapter 3 is going to be by far the most complex and unique chapter, it include a chase scene similar to the mushroom run above but also includes a much bigger set piece boss that combines action and turn based RPG combat in a way I think players will enjoy.


While Chapter 4 has not yet gone into development, several enemies have been designed as well as several tracks including the shop theme which I am quite happy with.


The games 5th chapter will be the smallest including the games final battle, however very little has been done for that particular chapter.

I am hoping to have a trailer made before the end of the year, as well as an (approximate) release date for the full game!

But for the main purpose of this devlog, allow to me to detail all changes that have been made to the demo.

Chapter 1 Demo Patch Notes:

1. Joy can now use two fist weapons. Weapons are still unique so you can't double up on the same one but you can have two.

2. All classes besides joy have been given a new armor slot called hand wraps. You won't start with any but you can find them in each zone. Any chest that would contain hand wraps instead contain gold for  theJoy class.

3. Comfy's shop has been optimized, it now instantly shows the item name stats and shows the player how much of an upgrade it is over their best currently held gear, even if it's not equipped.

4. Implemented Hint Mouse. Going the wrong way multiple times will result in a Hint Mouse appearing to let you know where to go and what to do. They won't tell you the answer outright, just hint at it. The Hint Mouse in The Blossoms will not charge the player money for tips but the ones in future chapters will.

5. A new puzzle has been added. It is a secret but participating in Milk Hero may guide you to it.

6. The new puzzle unlocks a fight with a new boss. Defeating said boss will upgrade Joy's Be First attack and will power up Comfy's Happy Dance for every other class. The upgrade will be passed to the player at chapters end.

7. Miscellaneous changes to UI elements. A combat tutorial has been added complete with images.

If you have already played the demo, this is the only time I would recommend replaying it as it does contain actual new content.  If you would like to see a sneak preview of chapter 2, you can watch this exclusive play-through done by HawkZombie!
